Blackstone’s Patria collects $1.8b for fourth infrastructure fund

by Kali Persall

Patria Investimentos, which is 40 percent owned by Blackstone Group, has raised R$10 billion ($1.8 billion) for its fourth infrastructure fund, Reuters reports.

Patria’s infrastructure platform invests in a diversified portfolio of infrastructure-related assets in Brazil and selected other Latin American countries. The fund will target investments in the logistics, energy and telecommunications sectors within these regions.

IREI understands the fund is targeting $2.8 billion in capital commitments.

“Despite the coronavirus pandemic, we saw that many investors understood how many opportunities there are in infrastructure in the region,” said Otavio Castello Branco, founder and partner of Patria.

According to Reuters, Patria has already allocated 40 percent of the fund’s proceeds for three assets: Brazilian solar and wind energy firm Essentia, highway operator Eixo-SP, and an unnamed cellular tower company.
