Biffa to commit $1.5b to green infrastructure in the U.K. by 2030

Biffa plc, a sustainable waste management company in the United Kingdom, has published its long-term sustainability strategy Resourceful, Responsible. The strategy outlines Biffa’s ambition to drive the sustainability agenda within the U.K. waste management space for the next 10 years.

Biffa will aim to improve its capability to support its customers’ recycling efforts by unlocking an estimated £1.25 billion ($1.5 billion) of much-needed investment in U.K. green economy infrastructure by 2030. This will be achieved principally through expanding the group’s low carbon collection business, quadrupling the group’s plastic recycling capability and developing energy from waste infrastructure, which the U.K. needs to manage its own non-recyclable waste more sustainably.

Biffa has also pledged to continue building on the significant progress that it has made in recent years to decarbonize its services, which have already seen the group reduce its CO2 emissio
