BCPC subsidiary buys into hydropower, transmission line projects in Southeast Asia

Bangchak Corporation Public Co. has agreed to a deal whereby its subsidiary will invest in a hydropower plant project in Laos, as well as an investment in a transmission line system and substation in Vietnam.

Bangchak Corporation Public Co. approved the transaction at its Jan. 24 board of directors' meeting for subsidiary BCPG Indochina Co., which signed the share purchase agreement on Feb. 10.

The hydropower plant project, known as Nam San 3A project, has a total installed capacity of 69 megawatts. The transmission line and substation, known as Nam San 3B has an installed capacity of 45 megawatts. Under the deal, the company has agreed to invest in the construction and operation of transmission line system and substation from Nam San 3A and Nam San 3B to the substation of Vietnam Electricity.

The seller was Phongsubthavy Roads and Bridges Construction and Irrigation Sole Co., a limited company registered in Laos. The transaction was valued at $123 million.
