Automation to increase revenue generated per square foot of logistics space

Prologis anticipates that in the United States, new supply of warehouses could fall short of demand by up to 140 million square feet (MSF) over the next five years, according to Prologis in Automation and Logistics Real Estate, Part 2.

Automation has the potential to increase revenue generated per square foot of logistics space. Greater productivity can help offset a lack of available space, most notably in urban locations where vacancy rates are often less than 1 percent.

And e-fulfillment footprints must double in size over the next five years. Automation’s ability to enhance productivity is key to meeting ecommerce demand and high consumer expectations.
