Australia’s Future Fund names deputy CIO

Ben Samild has been appointed to the role of deputy CIO – portfolio strategy of the Future Fund, Australia’s sovereign wealth fund.

Samild joined the Future Fund in 2013 and currently serves as head of alternatives. He is responsible for investing more than $30 billion of capital across a range of hedge fund and other skill-based absolute-return strategies.

In his new role, Samild will conduct lead work on portfolio construction and dynamic asset allocation, the integration of overall portfolio insights with sector-specific opportunities and development of views on emerging markets.

Samild will report to Sue Brake, who was recently promoted from the deputy CIO role to CIO.
