Austin issues RFI for biogas utilization project

by Andrea Zander

The City of Austin, in cooperation with Austin Water in Texas, has launched a request for information (RFI) seeking private partners to participate in information and planning for Biogas Utilization infrastructure at Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant (HBBMP), reported InfraPPP.

HBBMP produces an average of more than 600 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) of biogas from anaerobic digestion per day. About 33 percent to 40 percent of the HBBMP biogas is used to power an on-site combined-heat-and-power (CHP) engine and fuel-digester boilers.

The deadline to submit the response is Dec. 8.
