Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, India’s second and third largest mobile operators who recently announced they are going to merge their businesses to become the largest telecom player in India, are selling their 20,000 odd standalone towers to American Tower Corp. in an all-cash deal valued at $1 billion, reports The Economic Times. American Tower Corp. is a Boston-based global provider of wireless communications infrastructure.
The Vodafone-Idea merger is slated to close mid-2018.
