Aspen, Colo., vacant lot sale breaks two records

by Andrea Zander

A vacant residential lot in the prestigious neighborhood of Red Mountain, also known as Billionaire Mountain, in Aspen, Colo., has sold for $24.2 million, making it the highest residential sale so far this year in Aspen, according to Mansion Global.

The buyer was kept anonymous.

It is also the most expensive vacant residential lot ever sold in the snow town.

The 4.4-acre lot (Lot 3 on 300 American Lane) was one of five subdivisions of the former 40-acre estate of the late Marian Rubey Lyeth Davis, heiress to Maxwell House Coffee, who died in 2018. The lot has approval for 19,750 buildable square feet, more than what the county allows.

Residents of Red Mountain include hedge funder John Paulson, Walmart heiress Ann Walton Kroenke, parents of Jeff Bezos, candy mogul William Wrigley Jr., casino magnet Neil Bluhm and oil billionaire Sid Bass.
