Ardian’s Infrastructure team has agreed to acquire Attero, one of the largest independent European waste-management and circular economy platforms.
The Dutch operator is active in the essential waste value-chain segments of energy recovery, plastics recycling and organic waste management. Attero processes around 3.6 million tons of waste each year from domestic municipalities, commercial and industrial customers, and exporters in two energy-from-waste plants, three recycling plants, six anaerobic digestion facilities, seven composting facilities and 10 inert mineral deposit sites. Attero also generates more than 800 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity, as well as 22 million cubic meters of green gas.
Ardian said it plans to support Attero’s renewable-energy expansion via significant capex investments into biomethane from organic waste and solar PV development on closed landfill sites. It will also help Attero accelerate its contribution to the decarbonization o
