Ardian signs 10-year PPA with Swedish power company

by Kali Persall

Ardian has signed a 10-year green power purchase agreement (PPA) with Skellefteå Kraft, a municipal power company in northern Sweden, the private investment firm announced on Oct. 1.

Under the agreement, Skellefteå Kraft will purchase 250 gigawatt hours of wind produced by the Åndberg wind farm in Åndberg/Härjedalen, Sweden — enough to power 50,000 households across the country.

The Åndberg wind farm is one of the largest renewable energy developments in the Nordics with a capacity of more than 280 megawatts.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

In February, Ardian paid €300 million ($327 million) for the wind farm, which is currently under construction and is scheduled to be completed by 2022. It is one of three current wind power investments managed by Ardian’s new sustainable energy investment platform, eNordic.

Ardian Infrastructure’s portfolio in the Nordics includes two wind farm investments in Norway and Sweden and will now exceed 400 megawatts of gross capacity.

Since 2007, Ardian Infrastructure has established a 3-gigawatt sustainable energy portfolio in nine countries around the world. The portfolio includes the 800-megawatt Skyline Renewables, a partnership between Transatlantic Power Holdings and Ardian, and two joint-venture platforms in Italy totaling 460 megawatts.
