Ardian, a private investment house and insurer Credit Agricole Assurance, have agreed to sell a 49 percent stake of 2i Aeroporti to Asterion Industrial Partners, an independent investment management firm focused on infrastructure investments in the European mid-market. This represents Asterion’s first investment in the airport sector and strengthens its significant presence in Italy.
2i Aeroporti, a provider of airport construction services with interests in Italian airports, is characterized by a strategic portfolio of airports with high barriers to entry, long remaining concessions and supportive regulations. 2i Aeroporti holds direct and indirect participations in Milano Malpensa, Linate, Naples, Salerno, Torino, Trieste, Bologna and Bergamo airports, accounting for more than 32 percent of passengers traffic and approximately 70 percent of cargo in Italy, as of 2023.
