Ara Partners seeks $650m for second decarbonization fund

Ara Partners, a private equity firm specializing in industrial decarbonization investments, has set a $650 million target for its second fund focused on companies in North America and Europe that are poised to accelerate the decarbonization of the industrial economy.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Ara Fund II is expected to hold a first close by the end of March. The fund is expected to collect capital in excess of its target and has not yet set a hard cap, sources with knowledge of the matter told The Wall Street Journal.

The firm’s debut fund, Ara Fund I, completed a final close with $400 million in capital in May 2020. The fund was backed by a diverse group of institutional investors in North America, Europe and Asia, including public pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations and family offices.
