APR Energy, the global energy platform for Atlas Corp., has signed power contracts for eight turbines and 265 megawatts located across three sites in Mexicali, Baja Calif., Mexico.
The projects were designed around an environmentally friendly, low emissions solution that also helps stabilize energy supply, according to Atlas. APR expects these projects to become operational during the second quarter of 2020.
According to Atlas, Mexico is a key market for APR. This is the second consecutive year that APR has developed projects in this region.
APR has agreed to work with Grupo Dragon for power generation opportunities in Mexico on a right of first refusal basis; an arrangement that will be valid until April 2022. Grupo Drago is a Mexican organization focused on promoting the use of renewable energies.
Last week, Atlas Renewable Energy announced it is working with two banks to secure financing for the 444-megawatt La Pimienta solar park in Mexico.
