APG’s CEO to step down next year

Gerard van Olphen, CEO of Dutch pension group APG, has announced plans to step down from his role in spring 2021, citing private reasons.

According to a statement released Sept. 7, van Olphen sees the new strategy that has been developed as a natural moment to make way for a successor. The board has undertaken the search for a successor.

Van Olphen joined APG as chairman of the board in 2016. Under his leadership, the execution of the pension administration has improved.

“The development of the inspiring 2025 future strategy has created a natural moment for personal change for me,” said van Olphen. “The past months have brought me to the conclusion that I want to give more attention to my private life.”

He added: “At the same time, I can take this decision with confidence because I know that APG is in the hands of a team of highly motivated and knowledgeable people. I am, therefore, convinced that APG can fully meet the challenges facing the pen
