The APCA Transmimetro Consortium has won the concession contract for a $3 billion metro project in Bogata, Colombia, according to InfraPPP.
The metro line will be 23.96 kilometers (14.8 miles) long and feature 16 stations, 23 trains and carry 72,000 passengers each hour per direction.
The consortium, composed of China Harbor Engineering Company Limited and Xi’an Metro Company Limited will design, build, operate and maintain the project over a period of roughly 27.9 years.
The project will be Bogota’s first subway line.
The APCA consortium outbid a Mexican-Spanish Bogota Metro Consortium composed of FCC Concessions and Infrastructure, Carso Infraestructura y Construcción, Alstom, Metropolitan Railway of Barcelona and Promoter of the Development of Latin America.
Work is slated to begin in April 2020, with the line to be operational in 2025.
