ANREV: Australian farmland registers 8.46 percent annualized total return

The total return of Australian farmland for the year ending March 2021 was 8.46 percent, with income contributing 5.15 percent and appreciation return 3.17 percent, according to the first-quarter 2021 Australian Farmland Index compiled by the Asian Association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles (ANREV). On a quarter-by-quarter basis, the total return amounted to 0.88 percent, driven mostly by income return at 2.03 percent but moderated by depreciation of –1.16 percent.

Annualized total returns for annual crop farmland remained robust for the quarter ending March 31, 2021, totaling 25.34 percent, which exceeded the 17.56 percent return saw in the first quarter 2020 and the return since the index’s inception in December 2015 of 18.8 percent.
