AMP Capital has agreed to sell Axion, a Spanish telecommunications provider, to Asterion Industrial Partners for an undisclosed amount.
Axion provides broadcasting, transport, site hosting, and operation and maintenance services to the radio, regional television and telecommunications sectors. The company currently manages more than 5,000 service points throughout Spain, across 635 towers.
AMP Capital has owned Axion on behalf of investors in its global infrastructure equity platform since 2016. During this time, Axion has delivered 35 new build-to-suit towers and has been awarded an additional 148 towers to build. In 2018, the business expanded into fiber through the establishment of Axent, a joint venture with Enagas. Axen is a wholesale operator of telecommunications transport services on fiber and radio platforms that utilizes more than 4,600 kilometers (2,858 miles)of fiber across Spain. Axent has partnered with numerous clients, including three large webscalers.
