Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ameren Corp., has completed its largest transmission line project to date, the $1.4 billion Illinois Rivers Project.
The 375-mile project includes a 345,000-volt transmission line that runs from Palmyra, Mo., to Sugar Creek, Ind. The project is part of a multistate group of transmission projects that are being developed by transmission owners in the Midwest to improve and strengthen the regional energy grid and to facilitate the integration of renewable energy.
The final span of the Illinois Rivers Project was placed into service in late December.
