Amazon.com Inc. has unveiled three new renewable-energy projects in the United States and United Kingdom.
The new Amazon Wind Farm, located on the Kintyre Peninsula, Scotland, is expected to provide 50 megawatts of new renewable capacity (168,000 megawatt hours of clean energy annually), enough to power 46,000 homes. It will mark the largest corporate wind power purchase agreement in the United Kingdom, upon completion.
The company’s U.S. renewable-energy solar projects will be located in Warren County, N.C. and Prince George County, Va. They will total 215 megawatts and generate 500,997 MWh of energy annually. This will be Amazon’s second renewable-energy project in the state of North Carolina and eighth renewable-energy project in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
