Amazon has begun construction on a $1.5 billion, 3 million-square-foot Amazon Air hub in Hebron, Ky.
The hub, designed to cut Prime’s two-day shipping in half, is expected to be Amazon’s largest processing facility in the world, according to Air Cargo World.
The site will be located at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and include a 35,000-square-foot loading wing, ramp tower, onsite sorting facilities, and around 50 airplanes, with the option to add 100 or so airplanes in the future.
The facility will reportedly accommodate more than 200 daily takeoffs and landings and utilize algorithms, machine learning and robotics to increase delivery speeds.
