Allianz European Infrastructure Fund II hits €860m in first close

Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has completed an initial closing of its Allianz European Infrastructure Fund II three months after hitting the market.

The fund raised more than €880 million ($967 million) of commitments from institutional clients across various European countries. The AEIF II will mainly invest in Europe while also selectively pursuing opportunities in OECD countries outside Europe.

Allianz said the fund will provide exposure to assets that are essential for society within the energy, communication, transport, environmental and social sectors.

The predecessor fund, AEIF I, held its final close at the end of 2019 with €860 million ($945 million) of equity commitments. More than 85 percent of the AEIF I already is invested or committed.
