Aleatica has agreed to purchase a 56 percent stake in Italian toll road operator Brebemi from Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy’s largest retail bank, according to Reuters.
Aleatica will acquire the stake in Brebemi through a buy-in of Italian holding company Autostrade Lombarde, which owns nearly 80 percent of Brebemi.
The deal values Brebemi at around €2 billion ($2.2 billion), a source with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.
Aleatica refers to itself as a “new breed of transportation company,” according to the company’s website. Its focuses exclusively on conceptualizing and operating roads and other transportation assets in Spain and Latin America.
