Alberta, Canada, has plans to use hydrogen to lower its emissions and as an alternative to using natural gas to extract crude from its oil sands, according it media reports.
Alberta will announce no later than October a strategy to develop “blue hydrogen” as a cleaner alternative to using natural gas to extract crude at steam-driven oil sands sites, Associate Minister of Natural Gas Dale Nally told Reuters in an interview.
A green agenda is to be launched by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau this month.
