Actis has honed in on climate solutions, targeting at least 50 percent of its assets under management to be invested in these in 2030.
According to the Institutional Investor Group on Climate Change, climate solutions are investments that are critical to enabling net zero by 2050 through reducing emissions by decarbonization, or energy efficiency. This includes solar photovoltaics, wind, grid-scale electricity storage, electricity transmission and distribution networks, and hydrogen-based electricity.
Actis has built 17 renewable energy platforms globally and has 31 gigawatts of energy generation capacity in its portfolio. The company plans to align 60 percent of its total assets under management with net zero by 2030, and 100 percent of its investment portfolio to net zero by 2050. The firm also aims to have all its portfolio companies develop board-approved net-zero plans within two years post investment.
