Acciona to spend $600m on Chile renewables

by Andrea Zander

Acciona Energia has signed a contract for the construction of four renewable energy plants in Chile, with an investment of $610.65 million.

Construction is already under way of the 183-megawatt San Gabriel wind farm in Renaico. The $300 million project is expected to be online by 2020.

Acciona is also planning to build the $150 million, 87-megawatt Tolpan wind project close to San Gabriel.

The other two projects include the construction of the 62-megawatt Almeyda solar farm on land at Diego de Almagro in the Atacama region, and the 64-megawatt Usya photovoltaic plant in Calama in the Antofagasta area.

The solar plants will supply electricity to the National Mining Company of Chile.
