by Kali Persall

Accesso Partners, a vertically integrated commercial real estate investment manager, has expanded its investment and asset management team with one hire and two promotions.

Brad Barefoot was hired as CFO, and Paul Gaines and Abbey Rowsey were promoted to managing director of asset management and director of asset management and special projects, respectively.

Barefoot will be responsible for managing the financial and treasury functions for the company while helping to oversee its investment strategy, capital markets activity and strategic direction. He will report to Claudio Dombey, founding and managing partner of investor relations.

Most recently, Barefoot served as vice president of finance for Goldman Sachs’ $1.5 trillion asset management division for more than four years. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he spent five years as a managing director at Ressourcement Inc., a leading financial advisory firm, where his clients spanned Fortune 500 and large privately held companies. He has also worked at private and public accounting firms, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he led and supervised teams providing assurance services to the asset management, insurance and real estate industries.

Barefoot holds a master of accountancy with distinction and a concentration in finance from DePaul University and an undergraduate degree in business accountancy from Miami University.

In addition, Gaines will move up from his current role as managing director of capital markets debt, to managing director of asset management. Gaines joined Accesso in  2012 and has served in his current position for the past two years. In his new role, Gaines will oversee the asset management team and the investment strategy of the company’s $3 billion portfolio. Gaines has previously held executive-level positions at Argus Realty Investors, Equitable Real Estate and GE Capital.

Rowsey will work with property management and finance to streamline and simplify budgeting and reporting in her new role as director of asset management and special projects. Rowsey previously served as asset manager, overseeing multiple markets in Accesso’s portfolios in Dallas, Denver, Philadelphia and parts of Houston since 2014. She will continue with her asset-management responsibilities in Dallas and Houston, in addition to her new responsibilities. Prior to Accesso, Rowsey served as a senior leasing agent with Cushman & Wakefield, representing institutional owners, including UBS Realty Investors, RMR Group and RREEF.
