Abu Dhabi looks to bring private sector into $13.6b economic program

The government of Abu Dhabi has called on the private sector’s involvement in an AED 50 billion ($13.6 billion) economic stimulus plan, which includes infrastructure, healthcare, education and environmental initiatives.

The plan, known as Ghadan 21, seeks to rake in AED 10 billion ($2.7 billion) of infrastructure projects across a range of sectors under its public-private partnership model, according to CNBC. It was launched last year.

“It’s important to bring in the private sector,” Mohammed Al Shorafa, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, told the news outlet in an interview on Wednesday.
