The Aberdeen City Council in Scotland has launched tenders in search of a strategic partner for the development of a hydrogen hub. The council has agreed to provide $19.4 million in funding from its capital program as an investment in the hydrogen-energy partnership.
The city is seeking to form a long-term joint venture with the new partner, who will be expected to provide financing and investment pertaining to Aberdeen’s hydrogen hub and net-zero vision. The partner will specifically offer scoping, design, procurement, project management, implementation, delivery, operation, maintenance, commercial support and technical expertise.
The first phase of the project will include the procurement of a hydrogen production facility for public-sector consumption of a resilient, cost-effective supply of green hydrogen on a commercial basis, to support both existing and proposed transport projects. Phase 2 envisages supply to larger volume utilization hydrogen vehicles, such as
