ABC Impact injects $50m into Japan’s Tekoma Energy, becoming coinvestor alongside HSBC AM

ABC Impact, one of the largest Asia-focused impact investors, with more than $850 million of assets under management, is investing $50 million to become a coinvestor in Tekoma Energy, an energy-transition platform acquired by HSBC Asset Management’s energy transition infrastructure team in June 2023.

Headquartered in Japan, Tekoma Energy specializes in the development and operation of solar PV projects with a plan to build out a more than 400-megawatt portfolio throughout the next four to five years in developed Asia markets.

Tekoma Energy’s primary business operations are in Japan, and it also has operations in Taiwan, with plans to expand into South Korea and battery energy storage systems in early 2025.

ABC Impact will provide both capital and impact investment expertise to Tekoma Energy. The new capital from ABC Impact will assist Tekoma Energy’s in developing and operating a series of new solar PV projects to address the demand-supply gap in the solar
