Matter Real Estate establishes single-family residential rental strategy

A new residential rental platform established by Matter Real Estate, a London-based real estate investment firm, together with its joint venture partners, will focus on the single-family rental market in Denmark to build a portfolio in excess of DKK 2 billion ($285 million).

The project, known as Velkomn, is Matter’s seventh residential platform investment and demonstrates sustained momentum in the execution of the firm’s living sector strategy, which now covers the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden and Denmark. Across its investee businesses, Matter is ultimately targeting 20,000 homes within five years.

Velkomn will be majority owned by Matter, led by Peter Uldall Borch as CEO. Uldall Borch, in his previous role as CEO of HD Ejendomme, built a portfolio of more than 6,000 residential units before the business was sold to Heimstaden. Anders Horsbøl and Søren Hampen Kristensen, who run 1927, one of Denmark’s leading housing developers, will be involved as partner
