The United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has approved the £2 billion ($2.4 billion) merger between Cellnex UK and Arqiva’s telecommunication infrastructure division.
Both Cellnex and Arqiva are independent providers of telecommunication infrastructure, including towers, pylons and masts, across the United Kingdom. As part of the deal, Cellnex will acquire more than 7,000 sites currently operated by Arqiva.
The CMA approved the deal following a thorough investigation that analyzed competition concerns and considered how ongoing developments in the telecommunications sector, such as the roll-out of 5G, might come into play.
