$1.94b highway projects awarded in Costa Rica

Costa Rica’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport is planning to award $1.94 billion of major highway projects to a consortium including Hernán Solís and GETINSA TPS, according to InfraPPP.

The projects include a 55-kilometer (34-mile) expansion of the San José–San Ramón highway, valued at $400 million; a 24.3-kilometer (15-mile) of track connecting the San José–Cartago highway with the Florencio del Castillo highway, valued at $400 million; an expansion of

Route 27, San José–Caldera, valued at $500 million; and improvements to the highway between San José and Río Frío that connects with Route 32, valued at $640 million.

According to InfraPPP, the infrastructure megaprojects are expected to help reactivate Costa Rica’s economy.
