Brazilian development bank BNDES and the country’s Ministry of Infrastructure are undertaking studies for the concession of 1,646 kilometers (1,022 miles) of highways spanning five states, according to bnamericas.
The highways are expected to generate some $1.8 billion in investments.
The studies cover nine stretches and involves a total of 14,000 kilometers (8,699 miles) of highway concessions planned in Brazil, 8,300 kilometers (5,157 miles) of which are federal routes and the rest owned by state governments.
The studies are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022, with the auction for the concession to take place by the first half of 2023.
