$1.2b internet project in Canada seeks investor support

by Kali Persall

The Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN), a nonprofit created by the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus, has proposed a C$1.6 billion ($1.2 billion) internet project, serving 13 counties in Canada, according to InfraPPP.

The EORN Gig Project will operate under a public-private partnership model and would leverage previous investments in infrastructure, such as existing fiber optic services and other infrastructure across the region.

EORN is seeking funding from federal and provincial governments, Canada Infrastructure Bank loans, and the private sector to bring the project to life.
