by Zoë Wolff

The $562.6 million University of Houston System has committed $7.5 million to Embarcadero Capital Investors Five, according to recent meeting documents.

The fund, which is sponsored by Embarcadero Capital Partners and is seeking to raise $300 million, will invest in West Coast office properties with a focus on the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and Seattle. According to board meeting documents, the fund plans to “pursue investments with some element of complexity.”

This investment falls under the endowment’s private investments asset class, to which the system has a 25 percent target allocation.
