Transaction volume increases in Benelux region

by Loretta Clodfelter

Investors have begun to review their attitude toward the Benelux region, inking major deals in Belgium and the Netherlands.

In the Netherlands, investment in Dutch property is on an upswing, as international investors have been increasingly targeting the country.

“The first quarter data confirm the trend that became clear last year of international investors placing increasing volumes of capital in real estate in the Netherlands. This has been led by investors from the United States, who represent six of the top 10 cross-border buyers over the previous 12 months,” says Simon Mallinson, managing director for EMEA at Real Capital Analytics, in a statement.

And in Belgium, according to Savills, a number of big deals have been completed recently or are in the market. The firm predicts strong transaction volumes through the rest of 2014.
