Though returns were down from the first quarter’s stellar 1.60 percent return, timberland still experienced the best second quarter since 2007, returning 1.08 percent split between 0.41 percent from appreciation and 0.66 percent from income, according to the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries’ Timberland Index.
The rolling four-quarter return is 9.93 percent, split 2.58 percent from income and 7.20 percent form appreciation, and up from the previous quarter’s 9.77 percent and the largest rolling four-quarter return since third quarter 2008.
The Lake States led the way in the second quarter, posting a 2.56 percent total return that was nearly double the return from the Northeast, which had the second highest returns. Th
