Real estate remains attractive to investors

North America continues to be the primary destination for real estate investment, according to the findings of the Institutional Real Estate Allocations Monitor, conducted by Cornell University’s Baker Program in Real Estate and Hodes Weill & Associates, which found 89 percent of survey participants are continuing to invest in the region in 2016.

However, both the United Kingdom and continental Europe are high priorities for real estate investors, despite the impact of Brexit, the U.K. referendum to leave the European Union. Interest in Asia, Australia and emerging markets also increased significantly year-over-year. Cross-border capital flows continue to increase, despite institutions based in North America and Europe, the Middle East and Africa prioritizing investments in their home markets. Institutions’ interest in other regions increased across the board in 2016.
