Maine PERS commits €135m to infrastructure fund

The $12 billion Maine Public Employees Retirement Systemhas committed €135 million($143.6 million) to EQT Infrastructure III, an infrastructure fund managed by EQT Partners, according to CIO Andrew Sawyer in an email.

The commitment is Maine PERS’ first to a fund managed by EQT Partners. The closed-end fund invests in European infrastructure properties.The commitment is subject to final due diligence, legal review and negotiations.

In February, the pension fund committed $300 million to two infrastructure funds — Global Infrastructure Partners III, managed by Global Infrastructure Partners, and Brookfield Infrastructure Fund III, managed Brookfield Asset Management.

The pension fund has a target allocation to infrastructure 10 percent and an actual allocation to the asset class of 7.0 percent.
