The $39.6 billion Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois (TRS) has confirmed it invested additional capital with GI Partners.

Illinois TRS invested $75 million in Menlo Park, Calif.–based firm GI Partner’s GI Partners Fund IV, confirms Dave Urbanek, director of communications at the pension fund. Previously, the pension fund committed $50 million, which was taken from the private equity portfolio, to the opportunistic real estate fund.

GI Partners Fund IV invests in all property types located in North America. The fund launched in September 2012 and has a $1.5 billion fundraising goal.

In addition, TRS selected Principal Real Estate Investors to oversee approximately $200 million in new investments in industrial properties
