European Facebook HQ sells for €230m

Unilmmo Europa, an open-end real estate fund, has purchased Facebook’s European headquarters in Dublin for €230 million, or €920 per square foot ($27.8 million/$1,031 per square foot). The seller was Ireland’s National Asset Management Agency, or NAMA, on behalf of Chartered Land.

The headquarters at 4 and 5 Grand Canal Square consists of two buildings, totaling 249,994 square feet across six stories, and includes a 147-space underground parking garage. It is located in the heart of Dublin's South Docklands.

Facebook occupies both buildings under two separate leases, forming the social media firm’s EMEA headquarters and the largest Facebook presence outside the United States.

Number 4 extends to 122,894 square feet and is leased to Facebook under a 15-year full repairing and insuring lease from January 2014. The lease includes a break option after 10 years, and the rent works out at €35 per square foot. At Number 5
