Asian investors continue to head to London

The United Kingdom continued its position as a focal point for investors during first quarter 2016, particularly for investors based in Asia Pacific, according to Savills.

London investment volumes overall in first quarter 2016 totaled £2.8 billion ($4.11 billion). Savills forecasts total investment volumes from Asia Pacific into London in 2016 are likely to be down slightly on 2015’s total, when investment flow reached £6.7 billion ($9.8 billion).

Chinese investors were the most active by value, completing five deals in London worth a combined £1 billion ($1.5 billion) during the first quarter. Singapore-based investors transacted the highest number of deals, completing 11 deals worth a combined £757 million ($1.1 billion).

Looking forward to 2017, Savills forecasts Chinese investment volumes into the United Kingdom are likely to continue to be stable, as will volumes from Singapore and Hong Kong. Volumes from other Asia
