Arkansas Teachers commits $35m to energy fund

The $14.2 billion Arkansas Teacher Retirement System has committed up to $35 million to EnCap Energy Capital Fund XI, an oil and gas fund managed by EnCap Investments, according to spokesman George Hopkins in an email.

The closed-end EnCap Energy Capital Fund XI will make oil and gas investments in Canada and the United States.. The pension fund committed $30 million to the fund’s predecessor, EnCap Energy Capital Fund X, in April 2015.

In addition, EnCap Energy Capital Fund XIreceived a $10 million commitment from the $572 million University of Houston System earlier this month.

In other infrastructure commitments, the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System committed $50 million to Global Infrastructure Partners III in February. The fund will invest in large-scale infrastructure assets globally, such as energy, ports and transportation.
